James Roper Paroxysm

18.05.2010 - 17.06.2010
By constructing abstract bodies formed from multiple elements these works mimic the complex bodily structures found within nature. Biological machines such as the human body process and retain energy and any processes placed under restraint will result in an intensification of it's eventual release. The work attempts to portray this intermediate state as control gives way to chaotic abandon and a transition occurs from one state to the next. I am heavily influenced by the excessive and sensuously rich imagery of Baroque art and it's depiction of the unfettering of religious restraint. Instead of the gentle ushering of the spirit towards the heavens my paintings spit, ejaculate, regurgitate and projectile vomit the spirit out, rejecting it's bodily form in a fit of maniacal hysterics, a nonsensical reflexive outburst like the spasmodic speaking in tongues of those 'slain in the spirit'.

Clemens Behr Black White Everything (and Me)

16.03.2010 - 30.04.2010
Clemens Behr works and experiments within space. His installations seem to take over the place, they are spontaneously build in. Mainly with cardboard, tape, garbagebags and other cheap or found material, he is trying to transform the room he works in. Through simple geometric shapes, the visitor experiences casual confusions of 2D painted and 3D existing objects. Behr mostly chooses material which originally has been made for other purposes and materials he can always rely on. Paper and tapes are cheap, always available, quickly to process, and work without electricity and malfunctions. With an easy folding technique, he quickly processes paper and fills the space with origami-like sculptures, which always relate to the given appearance of the space itself. His works can not only be found in galleries, they also pop up in public places like streets, the metro, or even outside of cities in woods or fields.

Alex McLeod Imperial Lands

16.02.2010 - 11.03.2010
Alex McLeod creates 3D landscapes that make you want to live in them. The work is focused on the transformation of matter, and the cycle of life. His candy coated compositions combined with his sense of style, have quickly gained him international recognition. He has been included on countless blogs, including that of rapper Kanye West and numerous upcoming exhibitions worldwide including; San Jose, Toronto, Sao Paulo, and San Francisco.
The works in "Imperial Lands" were all built as, ‘virtual installations, which illustrate the idea of life cycles.’ Alex aims to simulate the idea of recycled matter, and the interconnectedness of all living things through their molecular history. Voluminous smoke stacks and grass emit from bone, while coniferous trees are stripped of their natural colour to instead share the same surface. "Imperial Lands" is displayed in LED backlit ultrathin aluminium boxes, unique pieces of art to present the first landscapes on electronic imperial acid artshow.

{ths} For All is Vanity

24.11.2009 - 18.12.2009
The pursuit of truth, absurdity of morality and irony of inhibition is the content of {ths} new show ‘For All is Vanity’ and follows his ‘Trash urban warfare porn dirt style pop’ style. His new canvases are the continuation of his 'Gluebooks', a selection of sketchbooks containing collage and filled with handwriting, rawness, dirt & pornographic images. His new work feels like a gigantic resized version of his Gluebooks from paper to canvas. An enlargement both in size and insanity. Hail to the King, Baby.

WrenchMonkees Gorilla Punch

01.09.2009 - 06.10.2009
Built by Copenhagen motorcycle collective WrenchMonkees, "Gorilla Punch" was created to be part of an exhibition in the Danish Museum of Art and Design. WrenchMonkees builds bikes to ride everyday. Simple, mechanical expressions, unique custom bikes for people who love riding motorcycles. The approach applied by WrenchMonkees with their customs is very special, working from found or donated motorcycles to create low budget, but highly original unique motorcycles. "Gorilla Punch" is no exception, using a stock engine and frame, but also using pieces from other bikes, achieves great results. An atypical art exhibition to show a very atypical mechanical sculpture.

Defi Eat

07.07.2009 - 04.08.2009
A line that becomes more and more simple but full of expression takes us quietly into Defi's new fantasy. "Eat" is here to spread colors and needs. Overfeed us with nothing. To freeze all moments in front of us. Animals, objects, sensations that desperate need to go out and take on the street, are now fixed and locked up. They are mutating and searching their own materia, where to be comfortable, to be voracious, to feed on the viewer´s reactions. Inspiration is so simple and real as hunger. I can´t get no satisfaction.

Wagner Pinto Floating

09.06.2009 - 30.06.2009
Wagner Pinto presents his own pictorial world for the first time out of his home country, Brazil, in a Eurotour of 3 complementary solo shows (London, Barcelona and Milano), entitled "Floating", to present drawings, paintings and silk-screen prints inspired by the act of believe and faith, in different religious and folklore´s concepts materializing imaginary situations, mental impulses and fine energies which are represented by the artist vocabulary which brings out the forces of the nature, "orixas" mythology, "candomble" religious icons and the mistery about the "Ayahuasca" culture.

To Wagner Pinto, this sensory universe is an inexhaustible source of possibilities that fills in the imagination and makes possible an original representation, without esthetic stereotypes, on a very common issue of brazilian culture. The shows will transform in a fertile and dreaming landscape free of any interpretation. The idea is bring up to the surface, to the senses and views of visitors a floating universe, where even waves of thoughts have a rhythm, harmony, body and color, becoming the invisible visible to human eye, and in this way, try to give a new direction to abstract art.

Justine Ashbee Electric Threads

10.02.2009 - 06.03.2009
"The amorphous entities and reaching tentacles emerge and take form much like the navigation of a surfer within a wave. These drawings are executed purely by hand, using Sharpie pens. I begin with a curve, from which lines and forms begin to emerge, evolve, morph, and grow organically, in an intuitive flow, while maintaining delicate, elegant precision. The methodology is rhythmic, spontaneous, and direct, reducing interference with mark-making. Much like zen calligraphy, they are improvisational, and intuitively composed, where the physicality and the mark making become one. I’m utilizing stark, amorphous lines to trace the movement and human experience of the non-linear and imaginational realms. Through this intuitive visual language, a negotiation of the visceral and everyday human experiences of beauty and pleasure, and feeling are given voice." Electric Threads is Justine Ashbee's first european solo exhibition.

Diva Sol negro

09.12.2008 - 08.01.2009
Reflecting the current state of her artistic evolution, the series Sol Negro coincides with the launch of the new compilation book of the same name. Human birds and mammals which behave like insects, and humanoid hybrids donning aerial and aquatic vegetation. Solitary beings, mating beings and communal beings. Entities which unfold, ethereal and earthly at the same time. Fossilized, nourished by the matter of the world, rooted in the surface of the atmosphere, like an extension of the essential nature of perpetual flow. Bright specters, both material and intangible, which exist, and are possible, by depending on their inner sense of light, their vibrant bind which allows them to be, and to be seen.

Eltono Bermellón

08.07.2008 - 08.8.2008
To expose street art in a gallery is always delicate, outside its normal surroundings the work usually loses its sense. In order to solve this problem, Eltono always tries to create a relation between the street and the gallery. For the exhibition "Bermellón", the artist presents/displays collages of wood found in the streets of Barcelona which will use as the support to paint his "invertidos" inspired by art originally made in the streets. The "invertidos" paintings are inverted interpretations of original works that are in the public space, thus, the artist, works with the emptiness makes the reference to the original ones, without reproducing or falsifying them and simultaneously questioning the limits of outdoor and indoor exhibitions.
