{ths} For All is Vanity

14.01.2010 - 27.02.2010
The pursuit of truth, absurdity of morality and irony of inhibition is the content of {ths} new show ‘For All is Vanity’ and follows his ‘Trash urban warfare porn dirt style pop’ style. His new canvases are the continuation of his 'Gluebooks', a selection of sketchbooks containing collage and filled with handwriting, rawness, dirt & pornographic images. His new work feels like a gigantic resized version of his Gluebooks from paper to canvas. An enlargement both in size and insanity. Hail to the King, for the second time, and in intalian, Baby.

James Roper Hypermass

19.11.2009 - 20.12.2009
James Roper's work explores a variety of subjects from the heightened realities depicted in Baroque art and modern media to the restraint and release of energy found within complex structures such as the human body. In his first solo show in Italy, James Roper presents a new series Hypermass, where the compositions are constructed using images specifically appropriated from japanese animation (anime). Forms such as hair or body structure are highly caricatured in anime resulting in a visual style that can be read adversely as either an intensification of concrete reality or an evasion into escapist fantasy.

Zizioli+Lorenzini Seasons make you closed

03.08.2009 - 04.09.2009
On the occasion of the summer closing, the ROJO®artspace Milano presents SEASONS MAKE YOU CLOSED, a Zizioli+Lorenzini site-specific installation. Playing on the typical format of the communications that notify of the summer closing of a business, the two artists present a reflection on the inescapable flow of seasons and the resulting hardening of our feelings. It is therefore a “season”-specific installation, as well as site-specific: a veritable act of accusation against the myth of eternal youth.

Wagner Pinto Floating

09.07.2009 - 02.08.2009
Wagner Pinto presents his own pictorial world for the first time out of his home country, Brazil, in a Eurotour of 3 complementary solo shows (London, Barcelona and Milano), entitled "Floating", to present drawings, paintings and silk-screen prints inspired by the act of believe and faith, in different religious and folklore´s concepts materializing imaginary situations, mental impulses and fine energies which are represented by the artist vocabulary which brings out the forces of the nature, "orixas" mythology, "candomble" religious icons and the mistery about the "Ayahuasca" culture.

To Wagner Pinto, this sensory universe is an inexhaustible source of possibilities that fills in the imagination and makes possible an original representation, without esthetic stereotypes, on a very common issue of brazilian culture. The shows will transform in a fertile and dreaming landscape free of any interpretation. The idea is bring up to the surface, to the senses and views of visitors a floating universe, where even waves of thoughts have a rhythm, harmony, body and color, becoming the invisible visible to human eye, and in this way, try to give a new direction to abstract art.

Eltono Pubblico

15.01.2009 - 28.02.2009
Eltono, proposes in project "Pubblico", as it is becoming a main argument in his works lately, that the public is the protagonist of his work. This time, the spectator is part of the creation and the final result of the work. The experiment plays with the interactivity that exists in the street and wants to study how outer and uncontrolled factors of the artist affect the works installed in the street, changing them non-stop. This way, the artist reflects on the sacred aspect of art leaving his creations to self-evolve and generating an uncertain "without control" final result.

Bruno 9li Sigma

06.11.2008 - 09.01.2009
Mythological, spiritual, pantheistic: the first adjectives to illustrate Bruno 9li's metaphysical world, one of the most interesting emergent artists within brasilian artistic panorama. At the same time 9li sinthetizing whithin his artistic production several dichotomies and contraddictions of the brazilian world: metropolitan, ephemeral and technological. In his works, animals seem to spring out the diaries and bestiaries of the first European explorers of the "New World", epic heroes strongly impose themselves to spectator's attention, trought an immersion in a supernatural and ancerstral world. A return to origins, a lost golden age, pregnant of symbology. With his frenetic and saturated line, 9li draws a chaotically ordered world, ruled by a mysterious alchemy that controles, between past and future, death and resurrection, fantastic metamorphosis and genetic mutations of beasts and paladins into demigods and androids.

Anna Taratiel aka Ovni Out of Order

18.09.2008 - 30.10.2008
Taratiel's work is based on estrutured compositions, more or less alive, from where she tries to scape from the figurative world to give total freedom to representativity. Taratiel's structures are the base for many and infinite transitory landscapes, something similar to undiscovered worlds, forgoten lost dimensions. Taratiel work is now in an evoluting stage, in a confrontation between static and organic, a way out to the rigid forms. It is in this confrontation where "Out of Order" is born, like a battle of shapes in the quest of its roots.

Boris Hoppek Mascherare

15.05.2008 - 20.06.2008
"Let me make this clear. Yes, I made the c.m.o.n.s. for Opel, sorry. Again I don't have a text about the exhibition. First because i am bad with writing and second because I don't explain my work, well I just explain that I don't explain it. Why I don't explain stands for the concept of not explaining. could be - a) I use it as an excuse to cover up first that I am bad with writing or - b) my work has nothing that has to be explained, or - c) it has something, but I don't want to explain just a small part of it not to mention all the subliminal elements and interpretation variations I don't know of. Whatever, let's say its all together." Mascherare is Boris Hoppek's first solo exhibition in Italy.
