Analogue Group Show

26.03.2010 - 30.04.2010
Analogue celebrates medium format film photography - a collection of traditionally enlarged Black and White images taken with vintage and toy cameras by three Australian based fine art photographers. Analogue intends to show people the amazing world of film photography with images that defy digital commercial photography. It's aim is to prove that film is still a relevant style of photography and to help keep the film photography and darkroom techniques alive as a form of collectable and fine art.

"Expression is a powerful tool, to express yourself is to bare your soul and show the true beauty that can often lay dormant behind the facade of life. I use personal experience to express myself in my art form and am not afraid to show the many facets of the female form - sensuality, vulnerability, selfishness, pride, despair, adoration... Being self taught artist, I found that my creativity was set alight when working in an experimental environment, free of the constraints of conventional ideas and ways of thinking." - Asha Eve

Simon Degroot Game Suite

25.09.2009 - 16.10.2009
Simon Degroot’s work was seeded in the margins of his childhood school books. Animals, people, shapes composed the delicious naivety of those scribbles. Art in the margin. Today the texta and pencil’s have switched to paints. There are no more classes or exercise books, but his imagination is still alive. His scribbling now runs wild in the colourful pages of his blackbook, and the vibrant surfaces of his canvas.

"I’ve spent the last few years refining printing techniques that allow me to create ghostly, ethereal layered images using mostly botanical sources. As well as the native flora, I use non-native plant forms, as these gently affirm the migratory patterns (and adventurous yearnings!) of many life forms. With my work, I am trying to capture a moment of beauty. This moment is just one aspect of the cycle of life preceding the sadness of decay, return to the ether and regeneration of all organic matter. The majority of the pieces are originals, as I’m favouring the uniqueness of monotype, where the image exists for a single print only, again capturing the ephemeral nature of life. I hope to offer a sense of aesthetic balance and harmony that stimulates the observer and offers a chance to examine their own personal dialogue and achieve a sense of equilibrium."
